Let’s play!

The Who, What, How, Where, When and How Much
I work with writers and professional who want to have thriving writing lives that produce books, blogs, Web sites, businesess, newsletters, novels or poems.
I have helped a stuck, self-doubting novelist regain her confidence and finish her novel; there’s the IBM salesman who said he “couldn’t write” and is now writing and publishing industry articles. There are the biz folks who finally started their blogs and are now having fun sharing the ideas that fire them up — while supporting their businesses and building community. There’s the writer who didn’t think she could have a life as an author and is now doing it.
I can pull out of people the creative spark they didn’t know was there. I’ve watched a writer look down at her writing and practically scream, “I didn’t know I could do that!” I can get people to show themselves what they’re capable of, so they can step into a writing and creative life that is based on “want” and “can” rather than “need” and “should.” I help creative types talk about themselves and promote their work in ways that are connected to their values and interests, feels natural and, yes, is even fun.
So — what is it that you most wish to do with your writing and creative life?

Who are you?
You’re creative – and even if you feel a bit stale, you know it’s there. And you want at it! You’re committed to expressing yourself in the best and you-est way possible.
You’re a writer who needs help getting unstuck; who wants to work through creative barriers, whip up some brilliant time management solutions or needs support in finishing a project. You may be seizing the opportunity to finally break out and start that writing project, blog or start up that business you’ve been wanting to for years. You might need to work through a period of doubt and loss of faith. It happens.
You’re a creative professional who wants to start or reinvent your biz which means you may need to write or re-write your business – like, starting a blog, writing e-newsletters or getting on the social media bandwagon. However, you’re stuck. You either A) you don’t know where or how to begin or B) you freeze at the thought of the writing that goes with it all. Or C) both.
You’re stuck in a rut, lost in transition or ready to burst out of a threshold. How do you break out of a circular pattern of stuckness in your writing and creative life? What about those life transitions and thresholds where what was once so familiar ceases to be? You may feel lost, but you’re not. Coaching can help you find your own way.
You want to have more fun. Sometimes we lose our sense of fun and forget how to let go and play when we sit down to write and work and create.
You want to live the dream. Who doesn’t want to live that ideal vision of a life — but how many people actually go for it? Does that sneaky little gremlin voice keep you from stepping up? Let’s slay those nay-saying dragons and get back on the path.
I like working with people who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and sweat a little to get someplace better — the gritty, open adventurers!
How I work with people one-on-one
- Usually we work together over the telephone. Coaching sessions run an hour long.
- We can work togegther on actual writing techniques and skills; have personal coaching sessions that help you break through writing-life issues and blocks and onto a more resourceful writing life. Often, it’s a bit of both.
- I am available for ongoing email interactions between sessions.
- For writing feeback: Email me your piece, I’ll make notes and mark it up and give feedback and suggestions and send it back to you. I’ll highlight the sections that sparkle so you know where to put more of your energy. You can email me with any questions. The best way to learn this stuff and build confidence is to just do it. I have a knack for knowing what part of the writing is really you, and which skills and strength are the right ones for you to concentrate on. The point is to draw on your natural abilities.
- I help you come up with a general game plan of where to go and how to get there.
- I help you set editorial calendars and deadlines.
- I continually offer basic writing tips and techniques – which will soon be accessible on the Web site. But in the meantime everyone will get a tip sheet on some writing basics.
- Brainstorming and strategy work. I’ll help you bring out your ideas, connect the dots and find clarity and direction. And do so in a way that helps you self motivated (because you WANT to do this!).
We can start with a freebie 30 minute consul-chat, no strings attached.
